How To Save The World

v Be civically engaged - Exercise your right to vote. Bad politicians and policies can have an incredibly negative impact on your community and your environment. By not voting and letting your voice be heard, you are allowing opportunity for bad policy to rule. Be engaged in your city, states, and country by voting and talking with the politicians you support, as well as educating others on important issues.

v Donate and volunteer more to the right charities - If you want to help people across the world, it's important to give to charities that provide the right kind of help and provide it where it will do the most good. Charities, which create sustainable good in areas where it is needed, are the best and will do the most good.

v Work more into reducing your impact on the environment Another way to really the world a better place is to reduce the negative impact you have on the world around you. Being good stewards of the world has a significant and positive impact on your environment and helps to preserve the planet for the next generation.

Now a plot to block Brexit: Bitter losers gang up to scupper EU pull-out 17 million voted for

I found this story on the DailyMail page. The article has been written regarding the recent Brexit referendum results and how different politicians are viewing and disagreeing with them.

   British and European politicians are plotting to block UK’s exit from the EU
   As Labour went into meltdown, campaign started for a second referendum
   Tony Blair, Nicola Sturgeon, and pro-Remain MPs said rethink was needed

British and European politicians are plotting to block the UK’s exit from the EU.
On a chaotic day in which the Labour Party went into meltdown, a campaign was started to force a second referendum.
Tony Blair, Nicola Sturgeon, some pro-Remain MPs and a senior German official said a rethink was needed now the consequences of quitting the Brussels club were clear.

Eleven Labour frontbenchers resigned in a bid to replace Jeremy Corbyn with a pro-EU party leader.
The plotters hope a general election can be held later this year before the start of the formal process of quitting.
Last Thursday’s referendum could then be reversed. Iain Duncan Smith said the Europhiles were ‘bad losers’.

In further developments:
   Theresa May prepared to take on Boris Johnson for the right to win the race to succeed David Cameron as prime minister within the new few months;
   Mr Corbyn, who sacked Hilary Benn for disloyalty, claimed he was going nowhere, despite failing to even secure the backing of his own deputy, Tom Watson;
   George Osborne announced he will give a statement today to ‘provide reassurance about financial and economic stability’;
   The Chancellor, who had not been seen since the referendum result, is to stay in post to ‘protect the national interest’;
   In a surprise move, talks have also begun for him to join a Boris Johnson leadership ‘dream ticket’ alongside Michael Gove;
   A petition calling for a second referendum was placed under investigation after 77,000 signatures were found to be fraudulent.

Mr Duncan Smith said the bid by the political elite to frustrate the will of the people was an ‘anti-democratic joke’.
‘There is a lot of bad losing here from the Europhiles,’ the former Tory leader told the Mail. ‘This was one of the biggest turnouts since the war and there is no justification for a second referendum whatsoever.’

The representation of gender in the media

In todays world, media plays a big role in our every day lives. It provides us with a range of different information by publishing them in the press, television, radio, books and the Internet.
Although, this is very positive, like everything it has some negatives to it and one of those negatives are stereotypes as an overall, as well as the stereotypes and representations we are made to believe when it comes to how we see different genders and their roles.

“Stereotypes are thoughts that can be associated about specific types of individuals, groups of people or even certain ways of doing things.”

One of the main, very often raised issues with gender stereotyping is the way in which, women are presented to the audience of the different media forms. It is very often described how in the modern times, women are starting to become victims to advertising as they are beginning to be used to help sell products by being shown in sexy outfits and therefore, attracting attention.

In addition, different media platforms also present a very stereotypical imagine of women where they are shown as young, slim and with no flaws. Also, encouraging young women and teenage girls to look like the ‘ideal girl’

Above we can see two front covers of two completely different editions of the magazine. Both showing a similar idea of how a woman should look, with captions encouraging diets and weight loss.

These types of images then lead the audience into raising false ideas about the definition of ‘perfection’ and causes many young women and girls to go into thinking that they should do everything that they can in order to look just like the models. Furthermore, it also leads males into creating a false image of women in their mind and so many may begin to raise false interpretations of a natural real girl.

This issue is very serious as it can bring a lot of problems to women, how they think, feel and the way that they are treated. However, the media does not often see this issue as a problem due to the reason that it helps them to make a larger profit as many ladies will begin to purchase even more magazines and products just to make themselves look at least a bit more like the front cover models.

ISIS claims responsibility for Florida gay club massacre: American-Afghan terrorist phoned 911 to pledge allegiance to group DURING attack before he was killed by cops.

I found this story on the DailyMail Webpage. It was published on the 12th of June 2016. The article has been written regarding the mass shooting that took place in a nightclub in Orlando.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the the deadliest mass shooting in US history and says the gunman who slaughtered at least 50 innocent party-goers in an Orlando gay club was one of its fighters.
Shooter Omar Mateen, 29, from Port St. Lucie in Florida, opened fire at Pulse night club in the early hours of Sunday, killing at least 50 people and injuring 53 others.
This is the first time ISIS has claimed responsibility for an attack on US soil.
Shortly before the attack, Mateen, who was born in New York to Afghan parents, called 911 and pledged allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, law enforcement officials told NBC News.
And the terror group's Amaq news agency said on Sunday the Islamist militant group was responsible for the shooting.
'The armed attack that targeted a gay night club in the city of Orlando in the American state of Florida which left over 100 people dead or injured was carried out by an Islamic State fighter,' Amaq said.
U.S. officials cautioned, however, that they had no immediate evidence of any direct connection with ISIS or any other foreign extremist group, nor had they uncovered any contacts between the gunman and any such group.

During the attack, Mateen referenced the brothers who carried out the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, a Massachusetts State Police spokesman said on Sunday.

I decided to choose this story to analyse for my weekly news as it is one that talks about a topic which affected and touched people in every country of the world. It shows how cruel some people have became, taking innocent lives away due to reasons such as prejudice, stereotypes and even revenge.
The whole situation mostly shows prejudice because of the idea that the whole club was known to be homosexual. This therefore, supports the fact that many are still homophobic and think that relationship like this should not take place and they would go out of human morals and kill the innocent just to prove their point.
