We don't care about the 5p bags because we're all getting trollied! Shoppers ignore plastic bag charges and take the £1 trolleys home instead

·       Customers trying to avoid bag charge launched in England last Monday
·       DJ, 26, from Wiltshire says: '5p for a bag, get f***ed - I got a £1 trolley'
·       Another shopper tweets: '5p for a bag, quid for a trolley #NoBrainer'

I have been able to find this article on the front page of the “Daily News” and I have straight away decided to choose it for my weekly news as it clearly links in with the story have analysed last week.

The article is based on the lives and opinions of people all around England and it describes the furious reaction that the public showed when being put in front of the new “5p for a bag” law.

It is described how:
Shoppers are beating the 5p plastic bag charge by pushing their goods home in supermarket trolleys.
Customers are walking out of shops with trolleys stacked high with goods and then proudly posting evidence of the tactic on social media, after the charge was launched in England last Monday.”

In addition to this, the article also says that the security is doing everything in order to stop people from not paying for the bags and describes how shoppers are being chased in order to no take any goods with the trolleys to their cars, and uses Tesco’s as an example where they have put security tags on their bags in order to prevent them from being stolen.

This article, and the fact that it has described how the shoppers are not allowed to take their purchases to the car with a trolley (all still on the premises of the shop) shows a clear evidence to support my view from last week, which said that the aim of the new law is not fully to support the environment but also to make money.
This is because, if the main and only aim that the government had in mind when putting out the new procedure was to help the environment, there would be no such incidents taking place such as customers being chased after and even in the worst scenarios being forced to take out their purchases on the ground for not buying a plastic bag.

Because think about it ... Does not using a bag at all help the environment or paying 5p???
